Spanish Club/Club De Español
Throughout the year, Spanish Club participates in numerous activities in order to give back to the community and uphold its purpose in ensuring the preservation of the community’s values and morals.
One of the most notable activities that Spanish Club participates in is the Vive sin Cáncer organization. This organization was started in March 2006 and is to work with those individuals impacted by cancer and their loved ones for a better life. Spanish Club collects three boxes of colored pencils every year in order to donate them to the kids who are affiliated with this program.
Another activity that Spanish Club and Ms. Méndez work very hard on is the altar for DÃa de los Muertos. This holiday is extremely important in Spanish speaking countries as it allows people to pay respect and remember their loved ones. In celebration of this holiday, Ms. Méndez and Spanish Club helps build an altar filled with figures of the Catarina and Zapatista, calaveras, papel picado, and flowers.
Around the middle of the year, Spanish Club begins to collect hygienic items in order to donate them to the Centro Mujeres de la Esperanza. This center is for battered women within the community and they are always running low on supplies. Spanish Club tries to help out every year in order to donate them and help these women.
Spanish Club also invites a guest speaker to talk about issues in the community.
Finally, at the end, Spanish Club has a party to celebrate the end of the year and the activities that the club has done throughout the school year. This party is always fun as it allows the members to get to know one another.

Durante el año, el Club de Español participa en numerosas actividades para ayudar a la comunidad y mantener su objetivo de garantizar la preservación de los valores y la moral de la comunidad.
Una de las actividades más notables en que el Club de Español participa es la organización de Vive sin Cáncer. Esta organización empezó en marzo del 2006 y trabaja con los individuos afectados por el cáncer y sus seres queridos para obtener una vida mejor. El Club de Español recoge tres cajas de lápices de colores todos los años para donarlos a los niños que están afiliados con este programa.
Otra actividad que el Club de Español y la profesora Méndez trabajan muy duro en es el altar de DÃa de los Muertos. Esta fiesta es muy importante en los paÃses hispanohablantes, porque permite que la gente pague respeto y recuerdan a sus seres queridos. Para la celebración de este dÃa de fiesta, la profesora Méndez y el Club de Español ayudan a construir un altar lleno de figuras de la Catarina y del Zapatista, calaveras, papel picado y flores.
A medio año, el Club de Español comienza a colectar artÃculos de higiene para donarlos al Centro de Mujeres de la Esperanza. Este centro es para mujeres maltratadas en la comunidad y con sus suministros. El Club de Español intenta ayudar a estas mujeres.
También el club tiene una plática con un invitado especial sobre temas de la comunidad.
Por último, el Club de Español tiene una fiesta para celebrar el fin de año y las actividades que el club ha hecho a lo largo del año escolar. Esta fiesta siempre es divertida, porque permite que los miembros se conozcan entre ellos mismos.
